Our Worldwide Linguist Base

At TransLingua, we select from a group of experienced language professionals worldwide. We work to ensure that only the best linguists in their fields join the TransLingua team. We have in-depth knowledge about the kind of professional who is at the top of their field. We draw on that knowledge daily as we continually evaluate our linguists. Each member of our team must fulfill criteria established by TransLingua:

  • Be a native speaker of the target language
  • Be fluent in the source language
  • Be certified and/or demonstrate expertise in a specific field
  • Undergo evaluation and ongoing quality control

Source Language

Drawing upon our background in training professionals in language for business and government, we believe that knowledge of source idioms and traditions is as important as being a native speaker of the target language.

Pre-Translation Review

Before we initiate a translation project at TransLingua, our project managers review all aspects of the material to be translated. They are skilled at identifying images, words, and phrases that may not translate effectively, and work with our clients and linguists to craft the best solutions, prior to initiating the translation process.

Our clients value this phase of our work. At TransLingua, you don’t simply get back a word-for-word version of the original in another language, you receive an additional layer of review that helps to ensure the success of your communication in any language.

Translation Tools

We employ the most effective and current translation software to support our client’s efforts, ensure accuracy, and offer cost savings. For example, we create and maintain glossaries to ensure that our clients’ repeat words and terms appear consistently throughout all of their communications. Too often, clients and linguists alike confuse “replacing the human translator” with taking advantage of the new tools that are emerging. These tools do offer real benefits–they do not replace human translation skills–at TransLingua we take full advantage of both human talent and translation software to provide consistent and effective translations.

Creative and Marketing Support

In addition to traditional translation, our resources serve as support to your creative teams in editing source copy so that it will be successful in markets that have distinct local traditions. We work with you to ensure that your ad copy, headlines, and creative concepts are analyzed by local reviewers and guaranteed to be as effective in your target market as they are in the original. Working with your creative team and our own copywriters and graphic designers, we develop solutions that enable you to localize your materials while maintaining your brand voice.

Linguist Teams

Each translation is created by a team of native-speaking translators, proofreaders, and editors with extensive experience in your field. This allows us to deliver the most authentic, accurate translation–on schedule. Sometimes, we will select a translator or an editor who lives in the target country as well to ensure that the most effective translation is created. However, they may not effectively grasp the full meaning of local terminology in the source copy. This is why we analyze the source copy and select linguists who can best convey your message in another language.
